Last week, after my first loan, I decided to get more involved with KIVA and spread the word a little bit! After thinking on what to do for a while I:
- Became a “Registered KIVA Speaker”
- Created a Kiva Lending Team for my hometown (Vale De Cambra) – http://www.kiva.org/team/vale_de_cambra
- Organized an Event – “1º Kiva Dinner @ Vale De Cambra”
The idea behind the event was: Spend good time with friends and … each of the participants will leave 1€. So that all of us together we can make a loan. But, for me, as important as the loan itself is the fact that I managed to get person’s attention for a couple of minutes and explained them about KIVA.
After all - It was a great success! Together we managed to make a loan to Johnny Karanja from Kenya and will probably have enough money to make a second one.
