This week many of us watched a Google video of a bunch of guys skydiving while having a live video hang-out with each other using the famous google glasses. Wait a second …. what?! How cool is that? No … seriously … how cool is that!? If you didn’t watch it, here is a short version:
I’ve then felt the need to share, here in my blog, why I am in love with the web and technology in general. Le’ts start:
This is a very short post to comment about Google and how tricky and smart their team is – when I say tricky I mean it in the good way! I just found out about their “Email Intervention” campaign now and honestly I think it does not have much to do with email itself. What google tells you they want is: “save your friends from old emails that suck – bring them go Gmail”, however what I hear is “bring new friends to Gmail because we have this new thing called Google+ and we want everyone to use it”!
Honestly that is indeed a pretty smart trick and Gmail is, as far as i know, the best free email service there is so there is not any down side – unless you count the “old crappy” email provider that will loose one user.
Bottom line – smart …. and its obviously working “24 hours and over 100,000 interventions sent so far”! Good one Google Team
Here is another cool product from Google: “WDYL – What Do You Love” is a pretty cool new Google product that allows you to see with one single search and in one single page many of the results that you would get on numerour Google Products. This is no revolution but the concept itself is quite cool and practical.
Today i discovered a new feature of Google in a tweet from pedrodias.net – it’s called Google Transparancy Report and it show some of the government and personal data removal requests from the Google Network (Google, Youtube, Maps, etc.).
Honestly I think it’s quite a neat feature and it is especially important for bigger structures that influence all of our lives. For more information visit:
Wait a second… so a bunch of newspapers from Belgium just got annoyed that Google indexes them? And now Google should pay them? And little old me though that only Americans had that problem – where (almost literally) anything can lead to a law suit. But first things first I have a small message for those newspapers: “Welcome to Ze Interweb”!
So lets recapitulate to get this story straight: (more…)
